Opportune Moment is the product of 2 champion parents: HCLA Opportunity & Gianni of PVA.
She carries deep color genetics and produces crias of unusual fineness in color.
Moment's first son, AWH Grand Summit (owned by Dee Fetters of Paradigm Farms) still holds his record in the registry's EPD's for fineness and consistency, although he was fawn, not black. The important thing about breeding for black is to go for the best fiber quality possible so that it doesn't much matter if you get some other color.
With that in mind, we bred her to AWH MacGyver's Vortex who is doing an outstanding job of bumping up the quality of lock, luster and fineness in his crias. Moment gave us AWH Irresistible, a lovely fawn, who went on to win 2 Reserve Championships and several blue ribbons. Next we bred her to PacaShack's Sirocco, our black Boreas son. She produced a very lustrous and locked female this time as well that is almost black! Sirocco produces a lot of brown, so this was clearly darker than we have seen in many of his crias.
